Painting the Nation

Painting The Nation is a search for Ireland’s best amateur painter. Host Pauline McLynn is joined by judges Una Sealy and Gabhann Dunne to put seven amateur artists to the test. Pauline’s CV includes a BA in History of Art alongside her many TV and theatre roles. Over five weeks, inspired by the works of great Irish artists including Mary Swanzy and Jack B Yeats, the series follows the painters around Ireland, where they find inspiration at some of the country’s most beautiful and iconic locations. The winner’s painting is acquired by the Office of Public Works for the state art collection and will go on permanent display in Dublin Castle.
